Rick Simpson oil offers excellent pain relief, and in vitro, animal, and limited human research have shown positive effects on cancer. However, the Rick Simpson treatment involves giving gradually increasing doses of the Rick Simpson oil to build up tolerance against the psychoactive side effects.
Personalise your Dosage
The Rick Simpson treatment involves giving gradually increasing doses of the oil. The incremental increases in RSO oil make the immune system less sensitive to the psychoactive component, probably by inducing the production of a “blocking” antibody that reduces the severity of side effects when the substance is encountered in the future.
- Build-up phase: This involves a daily dosage with increasing amounts of the RSO oil, approximately one to two times per day. The length of this phase depends on the person, but generally ranges from 1 to 2 months to reach the 1 ml/day dosage.
- Maintenance phase: This begins once the effective therapeutic dose is reached, and 1 ml per day can be handled. The effective maintenance dose depends on the person’s sensitivity to side effects and their response to the build-up phase. During the maintenance phase, treatment intervals are longer, ranging from three to four weeks.
How to use Rick Simpson Oil
Allow the oil to come to room temperature before administering. Place the syringes in a warm water bath if you have difficulty extracting the oil.
Most customers place the RSO oil under their tongue for 1-2 minutes before swallowing. This allows you to get the cannabinoids into your bloodstream through your tongue. You can use a spoon to place a small amount of RSO oil, about the size of a rice grain. However, for the first time, I would recommend starting at half this size just to avoid any strong side effects. You can also mix it with food, drinks, or any cold-pressed oil. The side effects can last a few hours. If you don’t feel well, drinking or eating something sweet often helps.
Steps:
Start Slowly: The treatment involves consuming 60 ml of RSO over 90 days. Initially, your body will not be accustomed to its effects. If you do not feel well, just reduce the amount the next day.
First Week: Start with a small dose, about the size of half a grain of rice, once per day (preferably in the evening after dinner) or three times a day in case of pain (morning, noon, night).
Every Four Days: Try to double the dose. The goal is to consume about 1 gram per day by the end of the first month. Listen to your body, and if you feel any discomfort, maintain the same dose for a few days.
Gradual Increase: Over the next several weeks, you will gradually increase the dosage until you are taking about 1 gram of RSO per day. Keep in mind that you might experience psychoactive effects. If they are too strong, maintain the dosage until you feel comfortable advancing.
Continuation and Maintenance: Once you reach 1 gram per day, continue at this dose until you complete the full 60 grams. The goal is to consume the full amount in 90 days, but depending on your tolerance and comfort, it might take slightly longer.
Monitoring and Adjusting: Keep a journal to note any changes in your physical and mental state. Share these records with your doctor, as they can provide valuable insights into how you’re responding to the RSO.
Post-Treatment: After completing the treatment, some individuals choose to take a maintenance dose of about 1-10 grams per month, divided into smaller daily doses.
Rick Simpson Treatment
Rick Simpson made the treatment of cannabis for cancer popular by using 60 grams or 60 ml in 90 days. The figures below give an example of a fast, normal, and slow treatment.

Onset of effects
The RSO-oil has an onset of action of approximately 0.5 to 1 hours and peak effect at 2 to 4 hours. Also, around half of the daily intake is best taken before sleeping. The duration of action for psychoactive effects is 4 to 6 hours, but the appetite-stimulant effect may persist for 24 hours or longer after administration. Feeling drowsy, tired, and sleepy is a normal reaction. Sleeping 8 to 10 hours a day is also normal. If you do not feel well after intake (nausea or dizziness), you could have a glass of water with honey or something sweet. This will help recover faster from nausea or dizziness caused by sudden drops in blood pressure after oil intake. Still, if this does not help sufficiently, then the best thing to do is to take a lower dose for a couple of days before increasing again.
